BLINKER THE STAR (Back Cover)

This image was the back cover for Blinker the Star's album August Everywhere. The main image, of a melting Ice Swan, had, of course, to be shot in Death Valley, the hottes place we could think of. We'd had the star made in London. The idea was that our star, Jordan Zadorozny, would be carrying the burden of being a star. There are all sorts of possible ideas here. It could be seen as a reference to the story of Storm's old friend Syd Barrett who famously mentally disintegrated at least in part due to the pressures of sudden stardom. A cautionary tale. Storm had our poor star carry it out into the blazing heat in a variety of places. This was our favourite - a dried salt pan.
